Welcome all to my first locker for this year.

Following on from last year we have now completed the additional buggy shed and the new residents are starting to settle in. For all new users of the shed please see Brett Holland in the office to understand how we envisage the shed will operate on a day to day basis including all operating and security issues that users need to be aware.

The Captain is currently working on finalising the pathways in and around the shed and Clubhouse and we hope to have this completed in the near future.

The renovation of the upstairs function centre is progressing and all going well should be open for business towards the middle of February . It is very much a cost conscious update but should deliver excellent return of Members capital well into the future. Once complete we will have some “open for inspection days” for members to view the updated space provided.

The downstairs area will be progressively updated through-out the year as funds dictate.

A new outdoor area is being looked at where the old BBQ shelter near the practice putting green once lived. This will be an open outdoor area covering up the existing remains of the old BBQ footings and broken tiled space. More on this as the design develops.

The rain has now stopped and the work our ground staff have been doing to minimise the damage and ensure the health of the grounds are maintained throughout this wet period has been exceptional. A great thank you to them all for their efforts.

The irrigation works were on track to be completed by the end of February but alas this may slip a few weeks due to the wet and soggy conditions. Having said that Turf Irrigation Services may prove me wrong and still finish as scheduled given the great effort they are making to catch up after the rain.

We are still reviewing and evaluating an electronic score capture system but to date we have not found one that suits the parameters we have set. We need to ensure the system can stand the test of time and be adaptive enough to cater for all levels of our operations.

The management, staff and all contributors have been doing a terrific job with our weekly e-newsletter the Loop, and I encourage everyone in the club and beyond to sign up. The Loop will ultimately become the main club update for members and guests.

Also this may be the last of my Lockers on this site as we are about to launch an all new updated website with more news, information, results and interactivity to take the site to the next level. This will be consistent with a modern Club communication format. I am sure you all will find it extremely user friendly and a fantastic source to keep abreast of all that is happening around your Club.

The new site will be fully administered (and owned) by the club with management taking a leading role in developing and managing the content to ensure a consistent and timely delivery of results and information to all.

This will greatly help to streamline the current process and provide a great asset for the Club for the years ahead.

Our In-House Catering is now up and running and I am sure that this will prove a great benefit to Members and Guests over the medium to long term as we start to ramp up our strategic plan and forge ahead with the plans to make this great Club even better. Card facilities Visa, Mastercard and eftpos are now also available at the Cafe for your convenience.

I welcome our new Chef Brett Lloyd to the team and look forward to his valuable input in this vital area of our Club facilities. Please make yourself known to him when you are next in the Club House and show him our support. You will not be disappointed with the quality and variety of foods he can deliver. Try it and see for yourself.

I encourage everyone that struggles to find time to come into your Club House to try and make the effort to see what is happening in there and enjoy the range of services your friendly staff offer. These services are offered for your and your friends enjoyment and are part of your membership.

As always it is a privilege and an honour to serve as your President and I look forward to assisting all in the year ahead.

Until next time please let all your friends know that SPGC is where golf and good times meet.
