It is with regret that I have to inform you that our Superintendent Duncan Lamont has resigned to take up a new business opportunity. Duncan had been with SPGC for nearly 8 years and both the Board and I would like to place on record our thanks for his contribution during that time, I am sure you will join us in wishing Duncan all the best for the future, Geoff Connelly our 2IC on course will be taking over for the time being until a permanent decision has been made.
I was lucky enough to attend our Cadet Championship prize giving on Saturday, and it really is a credit to Paul Orchard and Peter Hughes (and all the mums and dads of course!) for their effort and time spent on this group that has seen it grow from strength to strength over the past 2 years, we really are producing a tremendous group of young men and woman here which will definitely take this Club forward into the future.
The wedding and function season is just about over for another year, and I would like to thank the team for all their hard work in making them such a success for all the people who visited us, mostly for the first time and who left here with great memories. Well done to the team as well for securing 2nd place in the best golf course wedding venue for the third year running, Parkwood won the overall prize but have spent vast sums of money to achieve that, it just shows yet again what hard work and good customer service can achieve.
Congratulations for hole in ones for December, on 17b to Julie Gardner and John Logan (on the same day) and also John Dickson on the 16th
The final honour board event of the year has now been decided after a lot of rounds of excellent golf the famous Cock of the Walk trophy has a new home won 4/3 by Geoff Toussaint –Hayes (his second honour board win this year) and Graham “G Boy” Jaeger, defeating Des Hudson and John Bradford.
The honour boards will now be updated to show all this year’s winners, if you have seen any errors on the current boards please let Pam know in the office as soon as possible, as once they are done they will be there for the next 12 months.
The first annual official Club presentation night will be held on the 9th February in the main ball room where all our winners over the past 12 months (men and woman) will gather along with all those who just love a good night out, with a lovely 2 course meal to tantalise the taste buds and some great live entertainment, tickets will go on sale soon for this event and are priced at $40 each, these tickets are strictly limited so don’t delay and end up disappointed as this will truly be a great members night out.
Please note that the Clubhouse will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and also New Year’s Day
And finally a HUGE thank you as always for your support throughout the year and from all of the team here we would like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday period.
And that’s me for another month, enjoy your golfing and I will see you around the Clubhouse soon
The Christmas period is upon us again, and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We have had some great golf played during the year. Congratulations to all of the winners and commiserations to all of those who missed out on the big prizes this year.
As you all would have heard by now, Duncan has left us to pursue other interests. Duncan has been with us for 8 years, and we wish him well in his new venture.
Good Luck to Geoff who has taken over the reigns.
Thanks to all of my fellow committee members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep this wonderful club going.
Thanks to Mick and all of his team for the wonderful job they all do to keep us all happy inside the club.
A big thankyou to Pam. Your knowledge of our club is unequalled and your help is greatly appreciated. xx
Thanks to Paul and his great team in the Pro Shop for their excellent service they give to us all everyday.
All of the Juniors have performed very well this year. They are a lovely bunch of kids that are continuing to improve. Im sure we will see lots of them in the winners circle over the holidays.
Thanks to all the wonderful members. You are all a fabulous group of people, and I am very privileged to be your Club Captain. I will continue to work hard for you all.
Don’t forget that this Saturdays 3 club event has been changed back to a 4man Ambrose. I think we all might need to bring our umbrellas though.

The AGM was followed by a 10am Shot-gun Start Stableford competition which unfortunately was cancelled after about 3 or 4 holes due to a serious storm which blew branches off trees, umbrellas inside out and golf buggies over. Players will have their competition fees carried over to their next competition date.
Ladies Annual Dinner 2018 – A fantastic night was had on Friday 30/11/18 and saw 85 members and guests enjoy a sumptuous meal, drinks, great music and the fun and frivolity that followed throughout the evening. The Rock ‘n Roll theme proved popular and captured everyone’s imagination. We were graced with the presence of Elvis, Sandy from Grease, Mama Cass, The Fonz, Suzi Q, The Pink Ladies, and many rock ‘n rollers wearing the bobs, big skirts and frills of the 50’s. Tina Turner and Beyoncé (aka Julie & Kay) also made a special guest appearance with a memorable rendition of Proud Mary. Thanks to our President Kay Palmer (previously Vice President) for organising the night, to our MC Marianne Ioannou who did a fantastic job especially filling in with some of her “stories” and to Jackie Lancaster for helping to plan the event and running the air-guitar competition and much more. The music was provided by Paul Mulqueen, a self-taught singer/guitarist/songwriter and DJ, who entertained us with music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s with everyone getting up on the dancefloor to join in the Nutbush City Limits. It was certainly a night to remember.
Thank you from Jan

THE WORKING BEE
A few tasks have been carried out since the last edition.
The clubhouse roof had a severe leak causing wall and floor damage in the function room.
This has been repaired by replacing and re-directing old spouting outlets on the roof.
A vine growing onto the roof of the buggy shed has been poisoned and the area trimmed for easier access.
The storm damaged sail in the alfresco area has been removed thus securing any further safety issues.
As you play your game, you may notice that many paths now have a defined trimmed edge, a big job and one that has been neglected over time.
Once the edges have been trimmed they really look much neater.
The 2019 working bee theme will be focussed on Course presentation.
As 2018 comes to a close it is timely to thank every person who assisted in any way, shape or form throughout the year.
Your time and efforts contribute to advancing the Club and making it an even greater Members Club.
Merry Xmas to All.
Our Christmas party/competition of 27th November was a very enjoyable highlight to a very successful year for AllSports events. The feedback from the party was positive and the` unusually` large number at the presentation, created a great spirit of bonhomie. The “free” draw for “enormous” cash prizes was a great hit.
