FROM THE BUNKER
Thank you to all of you who attended our AGM in the Clubhouse on Monday evening, it was great to see so many of you in attendance.
A big welcome to Ash Ludgate and Dale Patterson our two new board members, I am sure they will be a great addition to the team.
The entry points for the male members to the main Clubhouse bathrooms via the locker rooms will shortly be closed, (and all entry to the interior hallway) those wishing to use the toilets prior to 10am will still be able to access the outside toilets. These changes are coming into effect for security reasons, as we have seen an increase in access doors being left unknowingly ajar by members when they enter and leave the locker rooms, as always the safety and security of the building, its staff, members and contents are paramount in our thinking, and I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
October saw 10 days rained off which is a large amount to cope with, but as always rain would not deter the small numbers of our golf warriors who will play in any conditions!
Trading in the Clubhouse and on course was (and is always affected) by adverse conditions, as we know rain is a double edged sword in the world of golf but is something that is essential for good course conditions, although it was great to see the members still coming to the Club even though they could not play, but then they knew the bar would not be affected by rain.
The wedding season will start to slow down after November, so you won’t see those crowds across the bar on a Saturday until the cooler weather comes back.
We have booked a kids market here for Sunday December 3rd (which I thought I would tell you about now) this will run from 11am through to 4pm and will have a number of food stalls and live music, so if you are not doing anything maybe take a trip down and enjoy the day.
If you have any questions or you hear things on the grapevine and want clarification, please go and see one of your board members or just contact me directly, I am always more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
This will be my last edition of “from the Bunker” until January, as I will be heading away on AL to catch up with my daughter in WA before heading out to go camping in that beautiful state and away from email and phones for a couple of weeks.
Thank you as always and I hope to see you around the Clubhouse.
NEWS FROM THE CLUB HOUSE
We recommenced the working bees last Monday, and had 9 volunteers turn up.
The focus was to remove leaf debris from the mechanics shed roof, collected over many years.
The roof was broomed down completely and apart from finding around 100 golf balls we also discovered tree branches beginning to penetrate the shed roof.
These were removed and as such has fortunately thwarted the cost of a roof replacement.
Other clean-up jobs included weed removal in car park, cleaning cart wash area behind cart shed, and cleaning the 15th tee block.
Lawn edging was also completed to enhance path appearance around clubhouse.
Many more jobs are listed for completion including improving the safety behind original buggy sheds, soundproofing and sheeting a wall in the function room, and creating a cage to hold wood chips which utilises the existing trailer.
Until next time, enjoy your Golf.
NEWS FROM THE PRO SHOP
Hello again members only 8 weeks till the fat man comes and only 2 weeks till the Oncourse Summer Catalogue sale is on.
We have had a couple of changes around the shop, most importantly Rian Duncan has joined our team. Rian is a good friend of Cody and Jacob’s and will be doing his PGA Traineeship at the club. We look forward to following his progress with great interest.
Just recently we have become a full Bushnell stockist, the world’s number one range finders and used by more PGA professionals than any other brand.
We have been seeing less of Cody lately and if you miss him he has been Prac Teaching at Ashmore Primary and each morning has a group of cute nine year olds saying, “Good Morning Mr. Davis.”, which is a shock to him.
Our Cadet group goes from strength to strength with up to sixteen little golfers every Saturday morning. We recently held their Championships and our 2017 Cadet Champion was Jacob Green from Isaac Pikunic.
Nett champ was Emon Lennon from Ethan Smith (Ross + Barbara Bully’s Grandson). Our Sub Cadet Champion was Eve Gigl (Albertrand Ells Granddaughter) from Rohan Cook and Bryn Smith (Bully’s again).
We have their Presentation Day on December 2nd where they play Ambrose with hero golfers in each team like Cody, Jacob, Blaze, Josh and Andy and the Juniors also join in. Enough from me, good golfing.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone, the committee volunteer to do their best to represent all the female players and whether you agree with their decisions or oppose them, they deserve a degree of respect for their efforts and the responsibilities they take on your behalf.

VIEW FROM THE COURSE
Renovations on our greens are now complete. Weather was not so kind to us as we received 36mm of rain on our first morning of coring, this meant that the sand was so wet that it would not rub into the core holes, so Monday we only got four greens nearly complete.
A super human effort from the whole crew, and by us being able to close the course plus a picture perfect day meant we just managed to finish the front nine and then complete the back nine, a huge effort by the boys .
Now a week later I am starting to mow the green and they are coming up nicely, we are in a race against time as we have the qualifying for The Australian PGA here on the 27th of November, and you know the pros demand fast surfaces.
Everything else ticking along nicely Tees and Fairways look good paths and gardens a different matter.
